Honolulu Flag Makeover
Vexillological Design
For Honolulu Flag Makeover, I was tasked to find and fine tune my design process by redesigning the State Flag of Honolulu. I was tasked with:
1. Understand | Ensure that you understand the rules of vexillological design—what makes a good flag and what makes a bad flag.
2. Research | Investigate the city of Honolulu—its history, geography, culture, and what makes it unique. Absorb new information and take notes.
3. Ideate | Generate ideas for the new flag design.
4. Create | Depict my flag, after identifying the sketches worthy of digital refinement. Explore design variations and introduce the use of color.
5. Present | Choose 2 options to present and explain my design rationales for feedback.
6. Produce | Refine the flag in response to feedback received.
Through this process I was able to explore what methods work best for me and understand the importance of design choices.
